Since my death knight is going to be a dual-gatherer, this Three Panel Soul comic is very appropriate. I wish they had started death knights out with their professions near 300. It’s silly to be the embodiment of death and destruction and a hero class and to struggle with picking a pretty flower. I can see why Blizzard did it in that it would give Death Knights too much of a head start, but it still feels very silly.

Gathering Death Knights
Nov 30
Skeleton Jack describes different Death Knight specs for leveling up in WotLK. Skeleton Jack has a lot of good information about Death Knights – I know I’ll be referring to his site a lot when I level mine.
Hunter talent trees
Nov 29
BigRedKitty gave a breakdown of the Wrath Hunter talent trees a while back. Right now my hunter is pretty much straight beast mastery, but it’s useful to have a detailed description of the talents from the other trees. Who knows, I may decide to level from 70 to 80 as survival!
Lienna has a description of shot rotation macros for when I’m feeling lazy.
MontyPython’s Channel
Nov 28
MontyPython’s Channel has been brightening up my days lately. I’m particularly fond of the songs. I know these are old jokes, but I really like them anyway.
I finally decided to get an epic flying mount for my shaman. As a miner, it makes sense for him to skill up mining in Outlands before going heading up to Northrend. The pain of flying around Outlands on a normal flying mount got to me and since I have plenty of money on server (despite screwing up trying to sell gems from prospecting), I decided to get him an epic flyer.
Now my poor little warlock is my only 70+ toon without an epic flying mount. Since he spends his time milling herbs in Dalaran, he probably won’t be getting one until until he hits 77. With the no flying in Northrend before 77 restriction, there’s really no point to getting one before then.
Paladin AOE Grind Spec
Nov 26
I’ve been teaming up with Jaimie’s mage to level my paladin and I’m not happy with the way things are going right now. I can still AOE grind, but I’m constantly out of mana. A paladin that’s out of mana is really, really boring to play.
Here’s what I’m going to switch around. I’m going to try this build instead of this one. I’m going to switch my gear around so that I have the following stat priority: Strength/Shield block, Intelligence/Mana per 5, Stamina/Armor/Agility. If I’m reading things right, this should translate roughly to damage, mana, and survival. I also need to make sure to activate my trinkets whenever they’re up. Unfortunately, I didn’t get Figurine of the Colossus but I did get the two shield block trinkets.
I’ll figure this out yet!
I’ve wanted to learn Latin for a long time, so here are some suggestions from Ask Metafilter.
Jaimie and I haven’t played our hunters at all since the expansion. I’ve done the cooking dailies on mine and haltingly leveled engineering and that’s about it. Pike has put up a quick guide to Rez’ing Your Hunter for those of use who haven’t been playing our hunters lately.
Ask Metafilter has a list of Small & silent snacking suggestions. I often get the munchies while working so it would be nice to set up some options.
For yet another rainy day project, Help! How do I tidy up a disorganized hard drive?.
This CrockPot Baked Oatmeal Recipe looks like something I could make and send with the kids for lunches.
A Must Have Gun
Nov 25
Big Red Kitty shows off his new gun in Order Us About. Now I have to get my hunter to 80 and finish leveling engineering. No maybes, this is a must have!
Don’t miss the discussion on BM shot rotations a little farther down in the comments.
WotLK Wallpapers
Nov 25
Banana Shoulders has some very pretty WotLK Wallpapers up. Since I had to reinstall Windows, I’ve been using the default wallpaper – these should make things a little nicer.

If anyone’s looking for a gift for me, I wouldn’t say no to JoCo Looks Back.
Death from the Skies!
Nov 25
From this review, Death from the Skies! looks like a book I’d enjoy. Nothing like thinking about all the ways the world could end to brighten up a dull winter day.
Getting My Printer to Match my Screen is one of those things that I really need to get to Real Soon Now.
Vacation’s Over
Nov 24
Well, my long-anticipated vacation is now over.
There seems to be something about taking a vacation that causes big chunks of money to disappear. I took Thursday off, and my motherboard decided to die Thursday night and take the CPU with it. I was trying out an exercise ball as a chair and I managed to roll it into a corner of my open computer case. BOOM! That’s the second giant ball I’ve managed to run into a sharp corner while sitting on it. One of my minor projects was replacing the toilet seat and I managed to crack the toilet bowl. That required a late evening purchase of a new toilet. My dad kept asking me when I could come back in to work to finish off some reports and I lost a day and a half of vacation to coming in and doing them. By this point I was ready to pull the blankets over my head and not touch anything for the rest of my vacation. Fortunately the rest of it went much more smoothly.
We went out for lunch with some friends on Monday, which was a lot of fun. We talked about WoW and other things and had a fine time. I was able to borrow my computer from work, so apart from having to install Wrath three times, my playtime wasn’t hugely affected. By the way, as Justin reminded me, you don’t need to do the whole install if you can access a previous install – just copy the files over and create your own shortcuts. Jaimie and I managed to get the toilet replaced with a minimum of bother. I figured out the cause of my Wrath malaise and I’m having a fun time leveling again. Getting the kids out the door and being able to stay home myself was satisfying. It wasn’t quite as cheap of a holiday as I had hoped, but it was still fun.
Matthew Rossi has a post,The Care and Feeding of Warriors: Heavy, that describes a protection leveling build. He claims that Protection is currently the best leveling tree for warriors. Stats priority for this build is: strength/SBV, crit, hit/expertise – I’m going to have to play around to figure out the weightings. I should have no problem tanking – if anything I’ve been a little light on rage when doing instances. I am definitely going to have to give this build a shot.
EDIT: Rotation is Shield block –> shield slam –> shield bash –> revenge/HS –> shield slam.
Recognizing Bear Loot
Nov 24
Still no Bear Tank Pawn scale, but if you’re sick of waiting this is where I’m going to start research for building one: Recognizing Bear Loot.
Noscript and Evernote
Nov 23
I was going to give Evernote another shot, but apparently it doesn’t work too well with NoScript. Ah well.
