Yarn Harlot has a well written explanation of What is happening in Canada. I was pretty sure I knew what was going on before, but this definitely helps clarify things. It amuses me that the best explanation of current national politics I’ve seen comes from a knitting blog rather than from any of the major news outlets. (via Scalzi’s Uh Canada comments)

Very well written and informative article.
I think what I’d like to see happen is to have Harper step down and to have a new Prime Minister selected from the Conservatives, possibly with input/approval from the other parties. The Conservatives were voted in and it would stink to have another election now. This would require that someone who can play well with others be appointed. The opposition parties can rejoice in knowing they have clout (they can always call for an election is the new PM is also a screwball). The Conservatives get to hang on to power, while getting slapped on the wrist for their indiscretions. Canadians don’t have to sit through another election this soon. It’s a win for everyone but Harper, who gets fired for screwing up. Sadly I don’t know if this is even an option.
